Welcome! We invite you to join us for one of our Sunday worship services.
Worship on Sunday is a rehearsal for a full life of worship honoring to God. In worship, God's people gather to encounter God. In this encounter with God, we participate in the ongoing story of God's redeeming of all creation and God's call to live out the Kingdom of God in the whole of our lives.
We want you to feel comfortable and at home at Georgetown. To help, we thought we'd share a little about what you can expect here when attending a worship service.
1. Service Times
-
Sunday morning at 9:30 am.
-
Sunday evenings at 5:30 pm.
2. Arriving at Georgetown
-
Arriving 10 minutes before the service should give you plenty of time for parking and seating. You may want to arrive a few minutes earlier if you will be using the nursery or having your children (ages 3-K) attend the children's programs during the morning services. Greeters are available to assist you in locating the nursery and children's area.
-
The main entrance to the church is straight ahead when you enter from 40th Avenue.
3. Go to the sanctuary for the service. Several glass entry doors are located off the lobby area when you enter the building through the main entrance. Ushers will hand out printed worship service bulletins and children's bulletins. You may choose to seat yourself or have the usher assist you in locating a seat.
4. What does a service here typically include?
-
Instrumental music will introduce the start of the worship service.
-
A few songs will be sung by everyone, often led by a Praise Team standing up front. Words will be included in the printed song sheet in the bulletin and through PowerPoint on an overhead screen located at the front of the sanctuary.
-
In between songs, the pastor will greet everyone, welcome them, and ask everyone to take a moment to greet one another.
-
The pastor will say a prayer (for those who are sick; for ministries of our church; for our missionaries; for our community, country, and world, etc.)
-
An offering will be collected. Baskets are sent down the rows two separate times--one for our church's operating/ministry needs and the second for another organization (usually outside of our church). As our guest, our service is our gift to you--please feel free to pass the baskets by. We ask our members and our guests to sign our Friendship Register. We invite you to share your name and address with us and let us know if we can assist you in anyway (information, a call from a pastor, etc.)
-
The pastor shares a Bible-based message. Bibles are provided in the pews for you to follow along in if you would like. An outline for the message is sometimes included in the printed worship bulletin. The message is ended with a prayer led by the pastor.
-
Two songs are usually sung, with a blessing (benediction) by the pastor in between them.
-
Instrumental music is played as people exit the sanctuary.
5. After the morning service you are invited to join us for coffee and fellowship in the Gathering Area. Please feel free to take any of the materials found on the information table in the lobby.
We want our guests to feel comfortable and welcome when they visit with us. Please let an usher or greeter know if they can assist you in any way.
