Bed Ministry
Building beds. Restoring hope. Sharing God's love.
Every child deserves a safe, comfortable place to lay their head at night. Yet for some families, something as basic as a bed can be out of reach. For children entering foster care, the lack of a bed can even become a barrier to a family opening their home.
That's where Georgetown's Community Bed Building Ministry steps in!
Right here in our campus woodshop, volunteers turn ordinary lumber into something extraordinary. Working together, they cut, sand, assemble, and stain sturdy wooden beds and bunk beds that are delivered to children and families throughout our community. Each bed comes complete with a brand-new mattress, sheets, blankets, and pillows. And every single one is provided completely free of charge.
More Than a Bed
A bed is more than a piece of furniture. It's a place where a child can rest, recharge, dream, and feel a sense of security. It means knowing they have a space of their own and that someone cares enough to make sure they are comfortable and safe.
Through requests received from local schools, social workers, foster care agencies, and churches through CarePortal, we connect with families who need a little extra help. By removing the bed barrier, we also help foster families welcome children into their homes more quickly.
Many Hands. One Purpose.
This ministry is made possible by volunteers who generously share their time, talents, and resources. Whether you're comfortable working with tools, enjoy sanding and finishing, can help assemble beds, or would simply like to support the ministry through donations, there's a place for you.
Together, we're doing more than building beds. We're building hope, restoring dignity, strengthening families, and reminding children that they are seen, valued, and loved.
Because every child deserves a place to dream!
